Location! Location! Location!

Rock Frog is based in Berkshire but not tied to it!

Locally we offer indoor climbing sessions and lessons, navigation training, family activity sessions, educational talks and walks but we also travel throughout Britain presenting outdoor activities in some of the most beautiful and wild areas of Britain.

Snowdonia...

Offers a wonderland of opportunities for outdoor pursuits. The spectacular mountains, rolling hills and beautiful coastline of north Wales all add to the experience. For the novice or experienced climber there is plenty to keep you amused. For those who are on an intensive climbing course Snowdonia offers the widest range of geology of anywhere in the U.K.

Brecon Beacons...

Offers a wealth of walking, navigation and water activity venues. It is a great location for a multi-activity break and is a wild environment within reasonable travelling distance of London and the home counties for school activity camps and expedition training.

The Lakes...

The spectacular glacial scenery is awe-inspiringly beautiful for a walk on a bright summer’s day or a canoe expedition when it’s too hot to be away from the water. The mountains of Cumbria offer the novice walker and the more experienced mountaineer plenty of scope for training and enjoyment whatever the weather. While you are there you could tackle the highest peak in England, kayak on the deepest lake in England and experience a drive up the steepest pass in England! Can you name them?

Devon & Cornwall...

Wild and magical. The sea cliff climbing is absolutely spectacular and the coastline offers a wealth of opportunities for water activities and wild harvest training. Exmoor and Dartmoor offer a wild and dramatic venue for walking, navigation and survival training whether it is set beneath the perfect blue sky of an idyllic West Country summer or the brooding dark windswept cloudscape that can form at a moment’s notice.

Yorkshire...

An excellent venue for walking and climbing. The moors offer a really testing environment to the navigation student.

The Peak District...

THE place for single pitch climbing training. The sheer number of crags with an enormous variety of short routes makes it an excellent venue to bang out some routes to enter in the log book. Walking and navigation can be very “interesting” in the peat-hags of the plateaux and there are a wealth of caving opportunities in the area.

The Highlands….

The wild and desolate highlands of Scotland can look beautiful and inviting on a warm spring day and can be as “picture postcard” as the top of a shortbread tin but it’s not an environment you mess with. Like a beautiful diamond it can be filled with light and rainbows but also like a diamond it can be hard and cut deep if you get things wrong! If you have walked in Cumbria and Snowdonia and want to try the highlands, just remember you could drop the mountains of Cumbria and Snowdonia in the highlands and loose them! If you’ve climbed in England and Wales but not in Scotland be ready for a bit of an ego bashing as, on the whole, Scottish climbs are severely under graded.

Areas a little closer to base

Bath & Bristol Area...

Is one of our favourite locations for a weekend activity break. The spectacular cliffs of the Avon Gorge, spanned by Brunel’s suspension bridge offer an exciting (if slightly intimidating) first experience of “real rock”. The gorge also offers a wealth of multi-pitch climbs at various grades for the more experienced climber. There are many opportunities for other activities in the area such as caving, kayaking and ballooning.

Dorset Coast...

The Dorset coast offers some fine opportunities for good sea cliff climbing and there area wealth of other activity opportunities that can be presented in the area.

Kent...

Once of the most easily accessible places to climb near London are the areas of Southern Sandstone. Harrison’s Rock and Bowles Rock can make an interesting day out for the novice climber or experienced boulderer alike.
Because of the fragile nature of the rock and the important issues to take into consideration when climbing there with groups it is an important visit for anyone training for their SPA (Single Pitch Award).

Our indoor tuition is at Brunel University Wall, Uxbridge, Middlesex...

The wall, though relatively old, is large and offers a realistic surface on which to practice your moves. It’s ramp, ledges and overhangs give students the opportunity to learn and practice technical skills not always possible on other walls. See our very competitively priced indoor lessons.
