ACTIVE ADULT LEARNING is part of Hillingdon Adult Education but these courses are available to all, not just residents of the borough.

FAMILY LEARNING is part of Hillingdon Adult Education and is only available to residents of the borough with school age children.

Family Learning is a vital part of the development of communication within families and the enhancement of the parents ability to support children through their learning experience.
Parents often need to take a more active part in their children’s education but find it difficult to become involved in the child’s school work and understanding how they best “learn to learn”.

Family learning activities encourage the understanding in children that:

Learning can be fun
Learning does not stop at the school gate or at a certain age
The whole world provides vital learning experiences in our everyday life and we just need to recognise those opportunities and make the most of them.

Active Family Learning ticks all the boxes for attainment:

It is fun
You can learn activity skills
You can enhance vital learning skills
It is a way to gain fitness
It encourages an active lifestyle
It encourages fathers to participate
All the activities we do can form part of G.C.S.E. coursework or other school programmes

There are a wealth of choices for family learning opportunities in the London Borough of Hillingdon and we want to make sure that families can participate in the right course for their particular needs.

In order that your family get the most from their course you need to make sure:

You and your family can attend every session
You and your family can attend at the times stated
You and your family can get to the venue
That your children are not under the minimum age
That we are aware of any learning or behavioural difficulties
That we are aware of any phisical disability or illness
That all family members are willing and able to participate in an active learning experience

Please also bear in mind that places on these courses are limited and if you have already completed a particular course it is not appropriate to book onto the same course again unless there are spaces closer to the course start date.

Family Learning Courses are provided free of charge to residents of the borough of Hillingdon as part of a national government initiative to enhance children's learning experiences.

To ensure the continued provision of this free learning opportunity you will be asked to complete an evaluation form during and after the completion of your course.
