What Students Will Learn:

Students will have the opportunity to experience kayaking and/or canoeing (as appropriate). Gain an understanding of the skills needed to effectively move through the water using either craft.
Students will have an understanding of safety proceedures. All students will have the opportunity to work towards a British Canoe Union Award for which, on completion, they can then send off for their nationally recognised award certificate and badge.

How Students Will Learn:

Students will work as a group initially and learn basic paddling skills tasks and games. Students may move on to working in canoes with others and this will necessitate good communication skills and teamwork.
Throughout the course parents and children will learn how to take on a leadership role and enhance their effective communication skills.
Members of the group will work with each other and will be taught skills to pass on to other group members to reinforce the need for effective communication.

There will be a degree of theory work in order to complete award training.
